Discover the crafts and skills that make Irish whiskey so unique. And round off your visit with a complimentary glass!

What an opportunity! The chance to learn the secrets of good whiskey making, observe the 400-year old craft at close quarters....not to mention the prospect of sampling the finest of Irish whiskey.

This is the treat that awaits you at the Old Bushmills Distillery Company. In 1608, the distillery first received legal status from King James 1, making it the oldest in the world. On your one-hour guided tour, you will find out all about the craft and skills involved, which have changed little over the years.

Discover what makes Irish whiskey so unique - the special water from St. Columb's Rill nearby, the malted Irish barley, triple distillation in copper stills and ageing for long years in oak casks.

And what better way to round off your visit than by enjoying a complimentary glass of one of the famous Bushmills whiskeys!

Along the way you will hear how local folklore records many references to illegal whiskey distillation in the area dating back to the 13th century and beyond. Find out also how Irish monks could well have first introduced the famous spirit, known as 'Uisce Beatha' or 'Water of Life', to Ireland in the 6th century.
